“PM Kisan Yojana 2023: Empowering Farmers for a Prosperous Future”

PM Kisan Yojana: Farmers represent an integral component of India’s population and have been struggling financially for some time now. To address this, the Government has implemented PM Kisan Yojana – a scheme offering financial assistance to these communities.

This scheme will provide direct income support transfers to farmers’ bank accounts, helping increase agricultural production while simultaneously supporting reform initiatives that maximize its benefits. However, additional steps will need to be taken for it to achieve maximum effectiveness.

Eligibility

The PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana (KSNY), is a centrally sponsored scheme which offers up to Rs 6000 of annual income support to farmer families through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). Beneficiaries are identified either manually or electronically by state/UT governments and funds transferred directly into their bank account.

Registering with this scheme requires farmers to have both a bank account and proof of identity. They also must present their Aadhaar number (enrolment number), along with any required documents. Registration can take place online via the PM Kisan portal website, or at a Common Service Centre.

Once registered, farmers can easily check their status by visiting the PM Kisan website and clicking on ‘Farmers Corner. To do this, they need only enter their Aadhaar number and captcha code before clicking “Search”. If their application was rejected for whatever reason, that information will also be shown; additionally, this site contains a list of farmers who have received benefits through PM Kisan Yojana.

Registration

Registration for PM Kisan Yojana can be done both online and at a Common Service Center (CSC), the process being both simple and quick. All that’s necessary to register are valid Aadhaar numbers, proof of address verification documents, bank account data and bank account numbers. You can visit the PMKSNY website to check on your registration status; once registered you will appear in a public beneficiary list before your 15th installment payment due date.

To register online, visit the PM Kisan portal and scroll down to ‘Farmers Corner’. Under “New Farmer Registration”, complete and submit your details before receiving an OTP on your mobile phone to verify yourself as a farmer. Enter it before clicking “Search” to select your state.

Farmers should ensure their names are on the PMKSNY beneficiary list to reap its benefits. If you haven’t registered yet, do so as soon as possible – once registered your money will automatically be deposited into your bank account in three equal installments.

Benefits

PM Kisan Scheme provides financial assistance directly bank transfers for farmers living in rural communities to increase economic prosperity and achieve higher standards of living. Unfortunately, it has faced difficulties due to its complexity and high administrative costs; hence the government is currently working on streamlining implementation to make it more effective and reducing administrative costs.

Under this scheme, all land-holding farmer families will be eligible to receive financial support. State governments and UT administrations will identify eligible family members according to scheme guidelines; after this identification has occurred, benefits will be distributed directly into beneficiary bank accounts.

Beneficiaries can easily check the status of their applications by visiting the PM-KISAN portal and selecting “Farmers Corner”, entering their Aadhaar number and Captcha code, then clicking ‘Get Data”. Their information will then appear under “Beneficiary Status”, while those enrolled through CSC can check their registration status via “Status of Self Registered/CSC Farmers”.

Exclusions

PM Kisan Yojana does not apply to several groups of individuals; these include institutional landholders, people holding constitutional posts and officers in government ministries or departments as well as anyone who paid income tax during the assessment year in which they filed their return.

The PM Kisan Yojana is funded by the government of India; however, state and union territory governments determine which families receive assistance through land ownership record systems or registered mobile phone numbers registered to PM Kisan portal.

On August 9, 2020, the first instalment of PM Kisan Yojana was disbursed through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). Beneficiaries can check their status by visiting the official PM Kisan website and selecting “Farmer’s Corner”, using system generated SMSs or visiting local panchayats; all can also access their PM Kisan Yojana card to verify status.

eKYC

To join PM Kisan, farmers must be residents of India and own agricultural land. Additionally, they need an Aadhaar card and bank account details in order to participate. Once registered for PM Kisan, DBT transfers will deposit beneficiaries’ payments directly into their bank accounts.

Each state government appoints PMKSNY nodal officers who can help individuals register. Individuals can also go directly to Common Service Centers but may incur fees. Or download the PM Kisan mobile app and register their details via its official website.

Once registered on PM Kisan’s website, farmers can utilize its eKYC facility to validate their information. To do so, they need only visit PM Kisan and click on ‘eKYC’ under Farmers Corner before entering their Aadhaar number and Captcha code; following which, they will receive an OTP on their registered mobile phone which they can then enter in order to view their registration application’s status or try again later if an OTP fails them.
