PM Swamitva Yajana 2022 has been announced by PM Narendra Modi on the 24th of April 2020. It is among the many schemes which are part of the government’s plan to help the women, children, and families of India. The purpose of this program is to enhance the quality of life for all women in India and, in doing this, it has a variety of elements that are accessible via a single website.

What are the benefits of PM Swamitva Yojana?

Women’s empowerment has been shown to have a positive correlation with the increase of GDP, with an increase in GDP at around 2.5% per year, so it is only right that the government takes the initiative to empower women. Other benefits of this scheme include reduced infant and maternal mortality rates, increased literacy rate among women, reduced rate of drop-outs in schools, and reduced gender gap in pay. The scheme also aims to reduce child marriage, child labour, and domestic violence. PM Swamitva Yojana 2022 also aims to empower members of the LGBTQ+ community, with the specific purpose of improving their healthcare, counselling, and access to livelihood opportunities.
Women’s Skill Development Program
Under the skill development program, the government offers free short-term skill development courses to women. The courses can be completed in a matter of six to eight months, and aim to equip women with skills that can be used to find employment or to create their own business. These courses are offered through certified training partners, who are registered and vetted by the government. Women can find the courses of their choice by searching by course type, skill type, or city.
Women’s Entrepreneur Program
This program aims to create more entrepreneurs and business owners among women in India. The program provides women with access to funding for their business ventures. This includes providing them with a loan at low-interest rates, providing them with seed capital for their business, and providing them with mentorship and guidance from a panel of experts.
Women’s Nutrition Security Program
This program is aimed at improving the nutrition of mothers and children, with the goal of increasing the rate of children who are born healthy. This program provides pregnant women with access to free maternity health care, free antenatal checkups, free folic acid supplements, and free postnatal health care. It also provides children under the age of six with access to free meals.
Women’s Livelihood Improvement Program
The livelihood improvement program aims to provide women with sustainable income, skills, and opportunities to thrive. This program provides women with access to micro-loans and business grants, access to government subsidies and schemes, and connects women with mentors and experts in their industry to provide them with advice and guidance.
Women’s Healthcare and Counselling Program
This program aims to provide women with access to counselling and healthcare. The program provides women with access to a 24/7 helpline that can be used to report issues such as child marriage, domestic abuse, sexual harassment, and child labour. It also provides women with access to mental and health counselling, as well as medical treatment for sexually-transmitted diseases, HIV/AIDS and other STDs. Women can also access this program to report issues that are not listed above and the government will take action against those issues.
