Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana 2022 : Vigyan or science is an important element in human life. It has a direct impact on our lives and society as a whole. Keeping this in mind, the Ministry of Science and Technology has launched Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY). The objective of the scheme is to encourage students with interest in research and innovation to take up careers in science and technology. Who can apply? Students who are willing to pursue graduate studies in any stream of science or technology can apply for this scheme. In order to be eligible for the KVPY fellowship, you must also fulfill the following criteria: You should be an Indian citizen, permanent resident of India, or fellow commonwealth citizen with a valid visa at the time of application; You must have scored at least 70% aggregate marks from Class 12 board exams or its equivalent qualifying examination; And lastly, you must not have completed any degree previously. What is Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana?
Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY) is a central government scholarship program aimed at promoting undergraduate research in science and engineering among students from underrepresented groups. KVPY Fellowship is provided to students who have been identified as academically excellent and show potential for research. They may either be in their final year of undergraduate studies or may have just completed the undergraduate program. The Fellowship is a one-time award of Rs. 50000 given to the students to help them in their research work so they can get a head start.
Eligibility Criteria for Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana
If you are willing to pursue a degree in science or technology, you can apply for this fellowship. Benefits of the KVPY Fellowship
The fellowship amount for the programme is Rs. 5,000 per month for 11 months, which will be given to the selected candidates directly in their bank account. You can use this money to cover research expenses and other travel costs. The fellowship amount is taxable and it is mandatory to file a self-assessment tax return if your gross annual income exceeds Rs. 2,00,000.
It also acts as a great starting point if you are keen on pursuing a PhD program in future. The fellowship benefits are listed below: A one-time research grant of up to Rs. 50,000 during the 11-month period; A monthly stipend of Rs. 5,000 during the 11-month period; A one-time laptop/netbook for use during the research; An orientation allowance of Rs. 10,000 for travelling to your university to attend the orientation programme.
How to apply for the KVPY Fellowship?
The KVPY application form is available online from the first week of October every year. The last date to submit the application form is December, 31. Students from both undergraduate and graduate programs can apply for the KVPY fellowship.
